Input & Output Devices

Input devices are hardware components used to enter data and instructions into a computer.

• Keyboard - Used for typing text and commands.
• Mouse - A pointing device used to control on-screen items.
• Scanner - Converts physical documents into digital form.
• Microphone - Captures audio input
• Webcam - Captures images and video.
• Barcode Reader - Reads product barcodes.
• OCR - Optical Character Recognition (reads printed text).
• Touchscreen - Works as both input and output device.

2. What are Output Devices?

Output devices display or present the processed information to the user.

• Monitor - Displays visual output.
• Printer - Produces hard copies of documents.
• Speakers - Produce sound output.
• Projector - Displays enlarged visuals on a screen.
• Plotter - Prints large-size drawings(engineering/architecture).

Input Devices: User → Computer

Output Devices: Computer → User
